3 Former Antonio Conte Players That Chelsea May Want To Sign This Summer Including This Midfield Beast

Share

Antonio Conte came to Chelsea with the intention of turning things around at the west London club, after Guus Hiddink got them to a respectable 10th spot finish in the Premier League table last season. The Blues will want to erase the memories of the previous campaign and will now try to focus on the task ahead, with the former Juventus boss planning to make things right and get the club back on track.

The Italian manager has a list of players that he would like to see at Stamford Bridge in his starting eleven for the upcoming season and will now try to sign them. Keeping in mind his connections to Serie A, the manager could look back at some of the players that he worked with in Turin.

Here are three such players who worked under Conte previously at Juve and could now leave the club, in order to join the west London side, this summer:

3. Kwadwo Asamoah:

The 27 year old Ghana international could add some quality to the Chelsea midfield and knows exactly what his manager expects from him. He is well versed with the tactics of the Italian boss, as he has played under him for quite some time. It will be interesting to see whether the move does materialize or not, though there have been claims that the London based club are quite interested in signing their target. Asamoah could be an asset to the club if he does move to England.

2. Stephan Lichtsteiner:

Another player wanted by the Blues is right back/right wingback Stephan Lichtsteiner, who could be help fortify the back-line. The 32 year old Swiss international has a lot of experience under his belt and has more than 100 appearances for the Italian champs as well, since joining them in 2011. Branislav Ivanovic was quite poor last term and can’t be trusted on the right hand side of the defensive line. Due to this, Conte now plans to get his former full-back to Chelsea, as he looks to reinforce the back four. Reports have confirmed that the Premier League giants are in talks with Juventus to get a deal done soon.

1. Paul Pogba:

One of the top targets for Chelsea and many other European giants is midfielder Paul Pogba, who is at present with the French national team preparing for the Euro 2016 tournament in his native country. The 23 year old former Manchester United man knows what it takes to play in England, though he barely made three appearances for the Red Devils during his time at Old Trafford. If Pogba does sign for Chelsea, then it would be a huge boost for their new manager, who needs to find replacements for his departing midfield stars, though nothing has been confirmed yet.
