Who Is This 21-year Old Bundesliga Star That Tottenham And Liverpool Are Chasing? Everything You Need To Know

Share

The Premier League is one of the best avenues of attracting top young talents from around Europe. There are a number of top class youngsters from around the world trying to make their mark in the country but not many of them have been successful in recent times. But that has not stopped clubs from scouting and spending big on such talent hoping to turn them into future stars for the club. One such player who is now extensively linked with a move to the Premier League is German international Niklas Sule. The 21-year old youngster recently revealed that he is happy with his life in the Bundesliga but that has not stopped the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Everton, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea scout for him recently. He surely is one of the most exciting prospects in European football and here is a peek into his scout report:

Born in Frankfurt, Germany, Sule started his youth career at SV Darmstadt 98 before moving on to Hoffenheim as a junior player. He moved into the junior side of the Bundesliga outfit in 2010 and was promoted into the senior side just 6 appearances later. He made his Bundesliga debut against Bayern in 2013 and established himself as a regular in the 13/14 season. Though the 14/15 season was marred by an ACL injury, he has managed to get back into the senior side last season and was a regular presence at the back for the German outfit last season. He has made 5 appearances for the side this season, also getting his first cap for the German national side and is now one of the most sought-after youngsters in Europe.

Standing at 6’5″, the 21-year old has all the attributes that make him a desirable center half. He is strong and smart with his game, while his technique and understanding of the situation make him an innocuous defender. He loves to stay on the front foot and nick the ball off his opponents to set his team on the attack and is also equally adept at playing as a sweeper at the back.

He has won 65% of his duels (61% of the ariel ones) this season, which is on the high side for the Bundesliga. But his biggest asset is his passing accuracy which stands at 90% in his 5 games this season. He also averages a key pass every two games which is commendable for a center half.

His height and ability with the ball make him a dangerous defender but he, like most players, has his own short-comings. Like it is common for most player of his physique, Sule is not the fastest over the turf. He is by no means lazy but is at times found wanting against players who love to take him on with their pace.

At his age, Sule will only become a better player the more regular game time he gets and there will be no shortage of clubs who will be ready to pounce on him. Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are desperate for his signature but he will have to be careful to move to a club that are ready to have him in the first team. His performances in the Bundesliga show that he is a top class defender and he will need all the game time he can get to improve as a player. It will be interesting to see if the Premier League can provide him with ample opportunities. Do you think Sule will be a good addition to the Premier League sides?
