21 Goals In 55 Games: 3 Reasons Why Tottenham Should Sign This Cheap Beast

Tottenham’s search for a striker that can share the workload with Harry Kane seems to be heading to a more familiar side. Reports coming in state that Spurs are in the market to sign Gent’s big striker, Laurent Depoitre. The 27-year-old has starred for the Belgian club and has helped them into the next round of the UEFA Champions League.

The 27-year-old is a relatively late bloomer and has played in the third division of the Belgian league in 2010 but his meteoric rise has seen him score goals at the highest level in Belgium and this could well give him a move to the English Premier League. There already are reports stating that he wants a move away from Belgium and that could happen soon for the gifted striker.

Depoitre could well be the striker that Tottenham have been looking for and we give three reasons why he should be signed by Spurs soon.

  1. A happy home

Mauricio Pochettino doesn’t really sign players who are in their late 20’s, but Depoitre has developed late in his career and has 21 goals in 55 appearances for Gent. Pochettino does have a history of singing Belgian players and with Vertonghen, Chadli, Dembele and Alderweireld also present, the club could provide home comforts to Depoitre. Having a set of player who are from the same country would certainly help Depoitre adjust quicker to the rigours of the Premier League and with a shrewd manager like Pochettino; he also can develop his game in London.
