We’ve reached the halfway point of the Championship season, as Norwich City find themselves second in the table.
What a turnaround it’s been for the Canaries, who had a very slow start to the new campaign. But Farke has done a simply outstanding job at the Carrow Road, transforming Norwich City from a mid-table side to real automatic promotion contenders.
Under Farke, Norwich City have played some really good football this season, with youngsters also making a huge impact. Farke’s success has been built on the introduction of young players such as Max Aarons, Todd Cantwell and Jamal Lewis, while the club’s recruitment has been spot on, with the likes of Teemu Pukki, Emiliano Buendia and Moritz Leitner all bedding in well at the Norfolk club.
But in order to win the Championship title, the winter transfer window is going to be a hugely important time for Norwich City. Farke certainly should bring in at least a couple of new faces to the club to help maintain their promotion push.
That said, here are two players Norwich should sign in January to boost their promotion hopes.
Ronan Curtis has been in flying form for Portsmouth since moving from Derry City earlier this summer, scoring eight goals and supplying a further seven assists in 21 League One games.
The Republic of Ireland international, 22, is a left-winger by trade but is equally adept on the right and through the middle. An expert dribbler, Curtis has the ability to pick out a pass and create space for his teammates with his intelligent movement.
The 22-year-old would provide creativity and flair to Farke’s team, whilst also adding depth to the squad. Should Farke succeed in landing Curtis, it would represent a massive coup for Norwich.
Mason Holgate has fallen out of favour under Everton manager Marco Silva and has been given the green light to leave the club on loan in January.
Norwich City must try to get Holgate on loan as he has the experience of playing in the top-flight. His versatility of playing at right-back and central defence could also come handy. The 22-year-old’s addition would add quality and competition to the likes of Timm Klose, Grant Hanley and Christoph Zimmermann.
If the opportunity to sign Holgate arises, then Norwich should take it without thinking twice.
