2 Players Moyes Could Sign To Save West Ham’s Relegation Dogfight Including Arsenal Star

Two Players David Moyes Can Target In January To Save West Ham From Relegation

West Ham United’s new manager David Moyes picked up his first point with the club recently as the club were held to a 1-1 draw against Leicester City. After a dismal start to the season saw them teetering on the brink of relegation danger a couple of times, the Hammers sacked Slaven Bilic and brought in former Manchester United manager Moyes.

The Scot may not have enjoyed the best of times at Manchester United and Sunderland but he is still considered one of the best Everton managers and West Ham will hope he works his magic at the club. As of now, they are occupying the 18th spot in the league table and are still not completely far from the relegation zone yet. With just 10 points in hand, Moyes’ priority should be survival.

It will not bode well for the fans if the club ends up getting relegated and that will only intensify the pressure on the new manager. Of course, one cannot expect a top-10 finish from them this time but Moyes will at least hope to achieve a mid-table finish. For that to happen, West Ham will need reinforcements in January.

Right now, they do not have a bad squad. They actually have some big names, with the likes of Andy Carroll, Javier Hernandez, Pablo Zabaleta and Joe Hart in the ranks but it certainly would not hurt them to get in some fresh faces. There’s a lot Moyes can do with the current squad itself but to solidify their chances of avoiding relegation, the Hammers will need new players once the winter window rolls around. Here are 2 players who could significantly boost West Ham’s chances this season.

Ross Barkley – Everton

Barkley almost joined Chelsea in the summer but chose to stay back with the Toffees at the last minute. Since then, things have not been all that great for him at the club. A string of disappointing performances saw Ronald Koeman get sacked and the club are yet to appoint a new manager.

However, the £22.5m rated Barkley is seemingly unhappy at Goodison Park and could seek an exit in January, which makes it an ideal situation for West Ham to capitalise on. They have lacked creativity in the midfield area this time – even more so due to Manuel Lanzini’s inconsistency. Hence, a move for Barkley can benefit both parties involved. Barkley’s contract is running out in the summer and he shouldn’t cost too much.

Theo Walcott – Arsenal

Despite spending years at Arsenal, Walcott is not really a first-choice player even today. Hence, if the Hammers offer him a role up front, the player might find it hard to turn it down, considering he is in search of regular game time. With that in mind, West Ham can benefit by targeting Walcott to add some much-needed pace up front.

Not only will he be an asset for the Hammers, the £18m rated Walcott can also provide so much more with his experience. His versatility will also help Moyes in the event of injuries to certain players.
