2 Last Minute Deals Wolves Could Complete Before The Window Closes Including This Bournemouth Star

Two Strikers Who Would Be Ideal For Wolverhampton Wanderers

Having tipped them to go up and perhaps even with the league, I feel slightly invested in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ immediate future.

Their squad, although bought, of course, has an excellent look about it and should bring the fans much happier times than they endured last season. They do need a proper striker though and given their Portuguese connections, I wonder why they passed up on Rui Fonte who has gone to Fulham.

Having a good goal scorer in the team is always a welcome one and here are two other live options to fill the void before the transfer window slams shut on them.

Benik Afobe (Bournemouth)

Alright, he has history here but spending on someone with proven goal scoring ability at this level can end up looking like a bargain and just about every team promoted automatically in the past have shown that a player of this type is necessary.

For my money, Wolves are right in there with a chance this season after their smart looking signings so far and the promise of more to come. But the make or break for them is finding a player who will grab them 20+ goals in the league.

Afobe first of all can definitely do that for them, and is in a price range which makes this transfer wholly realistic. Going foreign and cheap for a striker is a risk of a different type and not one that a club chasing promotion to the Premier League should take.

Nahki Wells (Huddersfield)

The Terriers have spent big and with Steve Mounie now at the club, it’s hard to see Nahki Wells getting too many opportunities.

Wells scored 10 goals in 46 Championship games last season which doesn’t read that impressively on the face of it, but the team didn’t really set up to feed a single striker and the goals were rather shared around. Things would be different at Wolves in that regard, with a solid defensive set-up, meaning if anything, they will need one central figure to often find them a goal.

Wells has done better in the past – 22 in 42 in League Two with Bradford and 17 in 44 with Huddersfield in the Championship, so he definitely has ability. Those who know him say that he’s decent so why not give him a go?
