2 Ideal Signings For Huddersfield To Be Able To Compete

After their 3-0 win away at Crystal Palace on the opening day of the season, everybody was rushing to congratulate Huddersfield Town and made very early predictions that they would have no trouble staying up. Looking back though; Palace were in the worst form we have seen for many a year and their goal scoring hero that day, Steve Mounie, didn’t score again until last weekend.

Since then, Huddersfield have found things tough. They’re not sitting in the relegation zone yet but having a very scary looking goal difference and are looking rather limp in some games. They try hard and have a good coach, but like the entire bottom end of the league including Swansea, Palace, Newcastle, Stoke, West Brom and West Ham, they simply have a severe lack of quality.

Here are two players they could bring in who may just give their squad a better look going into February and may yet help them escape the dreaded drop:

Marko Grujic (Liverpool)

Whether the midfielder would arrive on loan or on a permanent deal is not sure, but what is certain is that there is no long-term place for the Serbian at Anfield and he must look for other options soon.

Liverpool spent £5.1million on Grujic back in January 2016 when he arrived from Red Star Belgrade, though he was sent straight back to the Serbian club on loan for the remainder of that season.

He has remained on Merseyside this season and knows the English game well enough, though his appearances have been limited to 10 and are a mish-mash of under-23 games, cup games and a grand total of 13 minutes in the Premier League.

Huddersfield have shown an interest in him and a deal could be imminent, something which would be a slight plus for the Yorkshire side.

Philipp Max (Augsburg)

Huddersfield have good connections in Germany and that could help them with any possible deal for attacking left-back Max.

Not that anyone could have known, but the transfer of Scott Malone in the summer has been unsuccessful; Malone is not fulfilling his potential, Huddersfield don’t have the excellent left-back they wanted and Fulham have not been able to replace him and are effectively playing Ryan Sessegnon out of position, which is holding the young player back.

Max could be available for the right money and I’m sure the owner will once again pony up when required.
