Spurs in recent times have changed their manager quite a few times. It is obvious that different managers will have different ideologies and likeness towards certain types of players. Every manager who comes into a club will look to bring in players of his choice. Similarly, the various managers who managed Spurs over the past decade brought in various players, who all had varied degrees of success or failure at the White Hart Lane.

Hugo Lloris

Lloris had already established himself as a top keeper at Lyon even before making the move to Spurs in 2012. He has only gone from strength to strength since his move and has helped in turning Tottenham into a genuine contender for the title.

Spurs are currently famed for their defense, but a lot of credit must go to Hugo Lloris for his role in ensuring Spurs are defensively sound. Prior to him, Heurelho Gomes and Brad Friedel donned the goalkeeping gloves for the club and Lloris is clearly miles ahead of the former and is definitely an upgrade on the latter.

Luka Modric

The Croat was a real find when Harry Redknapp signed him from Dinamo Zagreb. Modric truly flourished at Spurs and helped in turning them into a real force alongside the likes of Gareth Bale, Rafael van Der Vaart and co. During his time at the club, he was worshipped by the fans and they endeared him to the fullest.

Modric was renowned for his ability to keep possession of the ball and to get attacks going. His form at Spurs garnered a lot of interest from bigger clubs and Daniel Levy’s hands were forced into selling Modric to Real Madrid, where he has gone on to establish himself as one of the best midfielders in the world.

Roberto Soldado

The Spanish frontman was brought in following Gareth Bale’s move to Real Madrid. The 80 million that came in from the Welshman’s transfer gave manager Andre Vilas-Boas the funds to bring in players and most of the players he brought in with that money turned out to be utter failures and a waste of space at the club.

Soldado failed to do anything noteworthy during his time in England and was often goaded for his poor goal-scoring return. He was signed for nearly 25 million pounds, but never did enough to show that he was worth that much money. His goal scoring run in Spain did not continue in England by any stretch of an imagination and he was soon sent back to Spain packing.

Paulinho

The Brazilian midfielder was another that was brought in thanks to the influx of money that came Tottenham’s way following Gareth bale’s success. He came with the reputation of being a box-to-box midfielder who could score goals and left with the reputation of being a bit of a repeated disappointment when he left to play in China.

Many had predicted him to become a household name for Spurs as he had got a lot of accolades during his time with Brazilian club Corinthians. But his time in England was anything short of brilliant and he didn’t give Spurs fans much to remember him by.
