Liverpool FC: Three Players They Should Consider Signing This Winter

Share

Liverpool have done some pretty good business this summer buying as many as eight new players. Five of those eight players are to strengthen the defensive part of the team, an area which manager Brendan Rodgers is very particular about as evidenced by the three Premier League matches that Liverpool have played this far and kept the cleansheets. But it is not fair to think that their business is all completed, with Rodgers clearly failing in his attempt to bring in one marquee signing to the club. January should be the ideal time for Rodgers to try and bring in players that he intended to bring this summer, but did not succeed. Here we provide the list of three such players whom the Liverpool management would certainly want to bring to Anfield in the next transfer window.

Diego Costa

Liverpool were heavily linked with the Brazilian this summer, but ultimately he decided to extend his stay at Atletico Madrid. But according to reports, Liverpool still have their interest in him and may return with a bigger offer in January. Costa would be a brilliant addition to the Liverpool squad with his attacking flair and his physicality. Although it might be difficult to lure Costa to the Merseyside club, the right offer may just do the trick for Liverpool.

Mohamed Diame

Lucas Leiva is the sole man at the centre of midfield for Liverpool and Rodgers would definitely want to add some back up in January. Their budget is certainly a constraint and thus Diame is an ideal option for the club at an estimated price of £6.5m. May not be the biggest of names around, Diame is more than a useful defensive midfielder and at 26, he is yet to hit his prime. Rodgers likes to build his team with mediocre names and extract the best out of them and Diame would fit that bill perfectly.

Tom Ince

His deal almost went through last January, but Blackpool somehow managed to hold on to him. It is expected that Ince would run his contract down and join a top club next summer as a free agent. But if Liverpool try hard enough, it may convince Blackpool to sell Ince in January itself. A talented youngster, this purchase would be one for the future.
