10 Chances Created, 84% Pass Accuracy – Arsenal Should Extend This Midfielder’s Contract Soon

Why Arsenal should give Thomas Rosicky a new contract soon?

Rosicky

It’s no doubt that Arsene Wenger would be quite delighted with the start his team has had in the current campaign. The Frenchman and former Economics Professor is perhaps the world’s best when it comes it to finding the best of talents and nurturing them into future superstars. Wenger can also boast of having the best midfield in England currently with his side having steam rolled mast almost any opposition they have met since the opening weekend of the Premier League season. Moreover last night’s victory over Borussia Dortmund, the Champions League Finalists from last season would certainly be the silver lining so far.

Arsenal’s Midfield: It’s no doubt that Aaron Ramsey is in the form of his life, having a goal ratio of almost one, scoring in almost every game he features in. The Welsh has had a tremendous season so far, what has been absolutely scintillating is his consistency week in and week out, scoring as if almost for fun. The return of Santi Cazorla has also bolstered the Gunners midfield, the Spaniard is hugely influential, be it playing out wide or making his darts inside or providing assists, or scoring like against Liverpool last weekend.

However the icing on the cake has been the transfer deadline day capture of  the former Real Madrid man and German playmaker Mesut Ozil. The former ‘Galactico’ has certainly changed the mood around the Emirates and wins against the best of teams would surely turn the skies over Emirates to azure. The same can be said of Matthew Flamini, the French International who was bought on a free transfer from AC Milan in the summer. Mikel Arteta, the club captain almost completes the set of the plethora of midfielders Wenger at his talent, but the man we are missing out is Czech International Thomas Rosicky.

Will Arsenal keep Thomas Rosicky? The 32 year old is one of the most experienced players to choose from in the Arsenal squad and whenever he has played this season, Rosicky has been on fire. However he is in the last year of his contract and there are questions hinging over his long term future with the London Club. As the season wears on, it would be imminent that Rosicky won’t perhaps find a starting eleven place , but despite his age, Rosicky is excellent on the burn, brilliant in going forward with initial bursts of pace that even youngsters are having a tough time to keep up.

(stats taken from Squawka, explaining about Rosicky’s pass accuracy and the no of chances he has created this season in the league)

The above two images are a testament to what Rosicky has done this season.

Moreover the Czech International has shown immaculate linking up abilities with his fellow team mates and is more dynamic with the ball, be it pressing higher up the pitch to win back possession or leading the charge to counter attacks. He has a dazzling vision, and is brilliant on the turn. Thus even though, Wenger boasts one a plethora of midfielders to choose from, offering Rosicky a new contract seems wise, given the Czech is someone who can change the match by the scruff of its neck, maybe with his goal scoring prowess or that assist which eventually decides the game.
