2 Transfers Wolves Should Look To Complete In The Jan Window

Wolverhampton Wanderers started well and got better this season, slowly but surely working their way to the top of the Championship and now taking full control of the division.

They are well organised, well funded and ambitious and we will definitely see them playing Premier League football next season no matter what. Despite this confidence though, they will not want to take any chances and so manager Nuno Santo will undoubtedly seek to tweak his squad ever so slightly.

Here we see one potential incoming and one potential sale looking likely to happen:

Lewis Grabban (Bournemouth, In)

Although currently on loan at Sunderland, his parent club Bournemouth still have the right to recall him from the northeast and sell him on, something the 29-year-old may be interested in though news Sunderland fans and Chris Coleman will not want to hear.

Grabban seems to be belatedly finding his feet at this level having started out at Crystal Palace before moving to Rotherham and then to Bournemouth for a £333,000 fee during the summer transfer window back in 2012.

He did do well on the south coast, scoring 35 goals across a two year period before moving on to Norwich City for £3.3million, though he ended up back with Bournemouth less than two years later.

Wolves need a back-up for Leo Bonatini and at this level right now, there aren’t many better than Grabban.

Ben Marshall (Fulham, Out)

Fulham could do a lot worse than give Ben Marshall a whirl in his favoured position on the left of the attacking midfield three behind the striker, should they sell Ryan Sessegnon or insist on playing him at left-back. He played precisely there for a manager who knows him so well, Paul Lambert, in an underwhelming Wolves team last season.

In the left of the three behind the striker, Marshall managed an average rating of 6.79 which, in a new team to him and one struggling going forward was a good effort. He is up for sale right now given the riches Wolves have in this position and would make a very good signing for someone.

Ben Marshall

Santo appears to have nothing, especially against Ben Marshall. However, with Portuguese magicians Ivan Cavaleiro, Diogo Jota and Helder Costa in this position to name three, they appear to have no pressing need for him and it would be unfair to keep him in the reserves for the near future.
