Why Wolverhampton Wanderers must sign Juan Quintero in January

As per a report from the Daily Mirror, Wolverhampton Wanderers were interested in signing Colombian playmaker Juan Quintero in the summer. However, a move never materialised and Wolves failed to land him.

Wolves have made a fantastic start to life in the Premier League with 12 points from the first seven games. They have lost only one game so far and have shown a lot of spirit and determination to hold teams like Manchester City and Manchester United.

Massive credit goes to Nuno Espirito Santo for making Wolves play an attractive and fearless brand of football against the big boys of the Premier League. Nuno strengthened his team by signing the likes of Raul Jimenez, Rui Patricio, Joao Moutinho, Adama Traore and Jonny Castro and so far, all the summer signings have gelled well and delivered the goods.

Going by their early season displays, the ambitious Wolves have all the makings of a strong mid-table side. And to boost the team’s hopes of attaining the objectives in the Premier League, Nuno must sign Juan Quintero in January.

Quintero, 25, currently playing for River Plate on loan from FC Porto, caught a lot of attention in the World Cup when he scored once and assisted twice for Colombia. The playmaker was pivotal in Colombia’s run to the World Cup’s last 16, where the South American team lost to England on penalties.

As far as his style of play is concerned, Quintero is a proper No.10 who can link up the whole team. He possesses excellent dribbling skills and passing range, combined with his low centre of gravity to outfox the opposition with delicate footwork. The 25-year-old thrives in the spaces behind the lines and is known for his creative abilities to split open the toughest of defences with intricate passes.

Quintero’s close-control, pace and agility coupled with technique and a sweet left-foot make him an asset for any team he plies trade for. Due to his sudden burst of pace and top vision, the diminutive Colombian is always a difficult customer for the defenders to handle.

Also, he is adept at picking out the runs of his teammates with tailor-made through balls and crosses.

These attributes make Quintero such a delightful player for any attacking team in the world. In a nutshell, Quintero would be perfect for Wolves, who play an expansive brand of football. The Colombian can be deployed as one of the playmakers behind the striker, as a winger or as a deep midfielder.

A player with such skills and talent would prove to be a wonderful addition for Wolves. Quintero needs the proper guidance to take his game to the next level, and Nuno might be the right man to develop him at Molineux.

Without any second thoughts, Wolves must splash the money to sign Quintero in January.
