WOW! Thierry Henry Wants Diego Costa To Stay With Chelsea

Share

The legendary former striker spent eight years at the Gunners and became the club’s all-time record goal-scorer while helping the club win two Premier League titles and a pair of FA Cups.

Karim Benzema will make Arsenal contenders for Premier League and UCL, says Thierry Henry

He was part of the Gunners side that won the league title in 2004 without losing a single game.

And the Arsenal legend has revealed he was offered huge wages to leave the club after their Invincible’s season – and has urged Chelsea star Diego Costa to stay put amid interest from the Chinese Super League.

The debate was around a player’s ambitions to win trophies or cash in by moving to China despite the poor standard of football.

“I can understand [why Costa’s head would be turned by the offer],” Henry stated.

“It depends what’s your priority. I went through it when I was at Arsenal, when we stayed unbeaten in the league. Some clubs came, double, triple whatever salary and I stayed because my main priority wasn’t money.” ,said the former Gunner.

“But I can understand when it is for a player. You have to understand a background of a player, what it is. You ask anyone in the world you can triple, quadruple what it is your salary I don’t know anyone in the world who would go ‘er, no’. You’re going to listen. My priority was different.”

Henry spent eight years at Arsenal – returning for a brief spell in 2012 too – scoring 228 goals in 377 games.

Henry eventually left Arsenal in 2007 to join Barcelona before moving to the MLS in America for three years at New York Red Bulls.
