This news brings hope and inspiration to the Manchester United academy players. Jesse Lingard experienced a good season under Louis Van Gaal and is set to discuss a contract renewal at Manchester United.
The discussion had began at the end of last season but the talks were put on hold after the sacking of Louis Van Gaal. The new boss Jose Mourinho wants to keep Lingard and has given permission to the club to move ahead with the discussion. The player who rose through the ranks of United currently earns around £25,000 a week but that is set to be bumped up to £40,000 a week. A few clubs were sniffing around to see if United will keep the attacking midfielder but now will most likely back down.
Lingard played 40 games last season and scored 6 goals in all competitions. While that is not a lot, it did not stop Tottenham, Everton and West Ham taking an interest in the player.
