Winter Clear-out At Arsenal: 2 Players Who Should Be Shown The Exit Door

Arsene Wenger

Although it seems that no one wants to run away with the Premier League title, it is Arsenal’s for the taking. The Gunners are a few points behind the leaders Leicester but the sheer strength of the side should make them the team to go on for the title, if they can keep playing in the manner that they have all season.

Barring a run of performances that mirror the one that took place at St. Mary’s a few days ago, Arsenal should have enough quality to overhaul Leicester. For all the quality, Arsenal do have one of the largest squads in the league. The side have used many of the players this season due to a run of injuries but it could be time to freshen up a few things.

The January transfer window might not be one where Arsene buys too many players but he can shed the load at Arsenal by getting rid of a few players. Arsenal might even dip into the market if they get the right players off their books. With so many players at the helm, here are a few Gunners who could well be packing their belongings and moving away from the Emirates.

Mikel Arteta

The 33-year-old started the season as the captain of the club but his role and his position has come under severe threat by the performances of a certain Santi Cazorla. Arteta might have starred for the team a couple of seasons ago but his consistent injury issues have reduced his playing time for the team.

Arteta has only made 20 appearances for the club since the 2014 season and that would not be good enough for someone who makes as much money as he does. Arteta might be one of the more technically gifted players in the team but the rise in stock of Cazorla, Coquelin and Ramsey in midfield; it could well spell the end of the Spanish star.
