Why Watford Must Do Everything In Their Powers To Hold On To Their Key Man Amidst Everton Links

Why Watford Must Hold On To Marco Silva At All Costs

Watford have made an incredible start to the new season under the guidance of Marco Silva. They are currently sitting at 7th place in the league table and are capable enough to contest for a top 10 finish. Their entire team has evolved greatly in a matter of months and have exceeded the expectations of a lot of people. As the days progress, the road will only get tougher for Watford and they need Silva to see them through that period.

However, a lot of clubs have sacked their managers due to poor results and are on the lookout for a replacement. Everton have been eyeing Silva for quite some time fill the void left behind by Ronald Koeman. Although David Unsworth is temporarily in charge, the Toffees need to finalise a manager soon, especially with the January transfer window coming up.

There is no doubt that Silva will make a remarkable impact at Everton. Despite spending big over the summer, the Merseyside club are struggling greatly and could even have to deal with a relegation battle at the end of the season. More than identifying and adding new players, they need a manager who can uplift the current team to extract the best out of them. It will not be an easy task but Silva has already proven his credentials by doing the same with the Hornets.

That said, one must also consider the fact that Watford are likely to undergo a downward spiral without Silva. The club have been impressive so far and all the credit for that goes to their manager. The fact that they have started strongly will only make them aspire to end on a stronger note. For that to happen, they will need Silva.

With the manager at the helm of things at Vicarage Road, it is highly likely for them to challenge for a top 10 or an even higher finish. Not only will it set them up for greater things to achieve in the future but it will also create a solid foundation for them to work on. Hence, it is of utmost importance that Silva continues with them. Perhaps once the season ends, Everton could make a renewed approach to sign him, especially since that will also give time for the Hornets to line up a worthy replacement.

For now, it seems ideal for both clubs to continue with what they have. Everton can trust Unsworth to guide them to safety in the Premier League and they could probably make a move for Silva later. As far as Watford are concerned, they will have to be on their toes when it comes to ensuring the manager stays with them on a long-term basis.
