Why Watford will be a perfect place for West Ham outcast Reece Oxford
West Ham United are willing to listen to offers for defender Reece Oxford, as they are ready to sell him for a fee of around £10m. New manager Manuel Pellegrini has done a fantastic job thus far in attracting some of the very good players to play for the east London club.
Defenders like Issa Diop, Fabian Balbuena have been bought to sort a dodgy Hammers defence out. They already have quality defenders to cover up the first-choice players.
So, the 19-year-old Oxford, who was loaned out to Borussia Monchengladbach last season, hasn’t managed to impress the Chilean boss. He is certain to be surplus to requirements next season and it would be sensible for both parties to part ways.
Watford could be a good destination
We have seen Watford being very poor in defence and getting carved open very easily last season. Oxford might just be the man for the Hornets to support that brittle backline. The Englishman has the qualities to be a star if he gets a chance to play, and probably a good coach to explain the roles expected of him.
The 19-year-old has good height and stature to physically battle against the Premier League centre-forwards. The only thing he needs to learn is positional awareness and making tough tackles in trying circumstances. He is only 19, so he has time to acquire more knowledge and perform nicely on the pitch.
Watford under Javi Gracia perhaps need a good backup defender and Oxford could fit in that bill. He is still young, so the manager can take time with the Englishman and gradually introduce him into the line-up as per the requirements.
The other good thing about this player is the price tag. West Ham want only £10m, which means it will be a low-risk approach by the Hornets to sign him. Furthermore, the player is still a teenager, you never know, he might become one of the best in few years time.

Verdict
It will be a fantastic move for the player as he is certain to not get much games at the London Stadium. Him moving to a club like Watford, who are struggling in defence will be a good switch for the club as well.
