Why This World Cup Winner Is A Better Choice For Manchester United Than The Welsh Wizard

From one superstar to another, Manchester United are on the hunt to sign one big player and they have courted Gareth Bale since he was playing for Tottenham. The now Real Madrid player has not had the best time at the club, even though he helped them win the Decima a couple of seasons ago. This season around, he was vilified by the press and the fans, although he has stated that he does not want to leave the club, a big money move can’t be ignored even by giants like Real Madrid.

However, United seem to have set their eyes for Bayern Munich’s forward, Thomas Muller. The 25-year-old attacker is contracted to remain at the club till 2019 but then again, if Manchester United call, you get up and think about a move. While both players are great in their own rights, signing one player would be much better for United compared to the other.

Muller all the way

The German and the Welshman are both the same age and while both play in attacking roles, Muller provides a lot more to a team than Bale does. More importantly, Muller is known to be a tireless worker and loves to pressurise defenders at the top of the field, we all remember how he harried Pepe in the World Cup game against Portugal that is something which would work for Manchester United.

The other thing that works in Muller’s favour is his unnerving finishing, the German is lethal in the box and is known to take up some great positions, drifting away from his defender and lashing the ball in with minimal ease, that is something that United have missed since the Ruud Van Nistelrooy days and Muller could be great if he is played alongside Wayne Rooney in attack.

While Bale does have the edge over Muller in terms of making an impact in the game thanks to his physicality and pace, he does go missing in games and as seen during his time at Real Madrid this time around, he doesn’t handle being in the spotlight all the time, sure Ronaldo does take up a fair bit of the light but Bale was scrutinized a lot last season and that didn’t help him as he tried to kick start his season.

Muller would also be a cheaper alternative to Bale, although he would still be expensive, he wouldn’t be as highly priced as Gareth Bale. Muller can play in a range of positions as well; another reason why he should be coveted by Manchester United and probably is the better option for United in the long run.
