Why Olivier Giroud would be a top signing for West ham
The Hammers have appointed David Moyes – just 19 months after he left the club at the end of his contract. And now, the report suggests that the board would be backing the Scotsman to make new signings.
Former Arsenal man Giroud has fallen down the pecking order under Frank Lampard at Chelsea. The emergence of Tammy Abraham has made life difficult for the Frenchman and he would be better off by exiting.
The 33-year-old has scored 105 goals for Arsenal in 253 appearances and assisted 41 times before moving to rivals Chelsea last winter. He was regular in his first season at Stamford Bridge but the same cannot be said as of now.
With the forward himself admitting to leaving Chelsea if it was necessary, Moyes must try his luck and sign him when the transfer window opens.
The Hammers broke their transfer record in the summer to sign Sebastien Haller, who had an outstanding season at Eintracht Frankfurt. He started this campaign well but as it progressed, Haller lost his goalscoring touch.
In 18 Premier League games, he has just 5 goals and 1 assist to his name. His partners upfront has left him alone to do the job, without offering any kind of assistance.
Sacked manager Manuel Pellegrini allowed Andy Carroll, Javier Hernandez, Marko Arnautovic and Lucas Perez to leave at the end of last season and made no adequate replacements for them.
Apart from Haller, Albian Ajeti was signed. The Swiss is yet to open his account in 7 games for the London-based club.
Scoring goals has become a problem for the East Londoners and if they want to see an improvement in the second half of the season, signing Olivier Giroud must not only be prioritized but a move should happen to save to themselves.
The World Cup winner has a proven track record and is capable of helping the team with goals, even if he gets fewer opportunities. And the fact is that he has immense experience above the rest of the Hammers’ strikers.
His presence would also boost the confidence of the team and he might prove to be an ideal partner for Haller upfront. Giroud’s hold-up plays would also benefit his fellow compatriot and the duo could go on to rescue West Ham from sinking to the bottom.
Giroud may not be fast with the ball, but he can surely make a difference with his understanding. He has also scored some spectacular goals in his career and he would definitely bring his qualities to the London Stadium if they sign him at the earliest.

- Why West Ham signing Javier Manquillo would be a good move
The Chambery-born striker would no doubt be an effective player for the Londoners as he can add firepower to any dull attack. He would able to able to secure a spot in France squad if given a chance.
Therefore, if they manage to take advantage of his situation at Stamford Bridge and sign him, it would be a top-class move by the club.
