Liverpool have a couple of quality players out on loan this season. While Harry Wilson gets the plaudits for his incredible free-kicks and goals, Marko Grujic has been doing his bit in Germany too.
The 23-year-old Serbian impressed at Hertha Berlin last season and is back for another campaign with the Bundesliga side.
The former Red Star Belgrade midfielder also did well with Cardiff City a couple of years ago and helped them reach the Premier League.
His former manager at Berlin, Pal Dardai, claimed Grujic was the best midfielder at the club in 20 years (h/t Bundesliga.com), and that is one reason why Liverpool need to call him back next summer.
The Premier League is regarded as one of the most physical leagues in the world, and players need to be at a certain level before they can ply their trade in the competition.
Grujic needs to play consistently in the first-team for a quality side before turning his attention to Liverpool, and that is exactly what he is doing in Germany.
The 23-year-old needs to stay injury-free this season after featuring in just 22 games in the entire campaign.
However, the Serb scored five goals and provided an assist for the Berlin side. The midfielder already recorded one goal from three games for his club this season and seems set to feature in the starting XI, as long as he stays fit.
Liverpool need Grujic back in great shape as the midfielder can do almost everything in the heart of the park.
The 23-year-old can pass well, make decent runs and tackle as well. He isn’t an out-and-out defensive midfielder like Fabinho and might not have the engine that Georginio Wijnaldum or Jordan Henderson has, but he would be a quality addition to the Liverpool team.
Adam Lallana and James Milner are in their 30s and the Reds have to find a replacement for the pair as their time at the club could come to an end.
Liverpool have spent big on signing Fabinho and Naby Keita for their midfield, but they have a rising star already in the side and should give Grujic a chance next season.
Jurgen Klopp has provided chances to young players during his time at Anfield, and Marko Grujic should be the next in line to feature for the first-team.
