Why Derby County should sign Sam Cosgrove from Aberdeen
According to a report in Star, Derby County are in the race to sign Aberdeen striker Sam Cosgrove either in the upcoming transfer window or in the summer. Championship rivals Middlesbrough are the other club interested in signing the in-form forward.
Cosgrove has been tearing up in the Scottish Premiership and other cup competitions, with 15 goals in 17 games in all competitions already so far this season.
It is quite obvious as to why the two top Championship clubs are vying up for a possible move to sign the Englishman.
Derby County have made an underwhelming start to the season. They lie 16th in the league table and are struggling to score goals and also defend them.
Here’s why they should sign Cosgrove and at least improve one part of their game before it gets too late:
Cosgrove would add goals and ruthlessness up top
Sam Cosgrove is a quality centre-forward, who has had a terrific record in the Scottish league since arriving a Aberdeen in the January window of 2018.
With 36 goals and six assists in 67 appearances in all competitions for the Scottish side, the 22-year-old is showing ruthless form in the final third. He has been a constant threat for the opposition defenders and continues to do so.
In terms of his attributes, Cosgrove is a typical number nine type of centre-forward, who is physically strong and is an aerial threat to the opposition defence.
He isn’t bad with ball at his feet, as his scoring returns would suggest. He is a good holder of the ball, can link-up play in the final third and does have deceptive pace to make runs in behind the back-line.
I Derby manage to sign him, they would have a player who adds goals and ruthlessness to their team.
Therefore, the Rams should beat Middlesbrough in signature of Sam Cosgrove in January window itself.
