Gareth Bale – Eden Hazard swap deal: Should Chelsea accept Real Madrid’s offer?

Real Madrid have endured quite a lacklustre season so far and in spite of being the reigning European champions, they have faced quite a lot of issues this season. It is quite evident that they are in dire need of new players and the club seems to be wasting no time when it comes to scanning the market to find fresh recruits.

One of the players on their target list seems to be Chelsea star Eden Hazard and as per latest reports, they could be willing to offer £100m plus Gareth Bale to acquire his signature.

The club seems to be keen on using Bale as a bargaining chip to bring quite a few players to the club (Harry Kane and David De Gea) but it will be interesting to see if Chelsea are willing to sanction a deal for the same. While it does seem like a tempting offer, the Blues management is unlikely to be happy at the thought of losing a player like Hazard.

A crucial and experienced figure in their side, the £200,000-a-week Hazard has been through a lot of ups and downs with the club but he continues to be as consistent as ever.

To be fair, it seems like a worthy deal on paper. After all, Bale is one of the most dangerous attackers in the world and has established himself as a superstar as well. He has prior Premier League experience and can fill the void left behind by Hazard. In addition to that, Chelsea will also receive quite a lot of funds, which could be utilised to strengthen other areas to ensure a solid title challenge next season.

However, given Bale’s constant fitness issues and his tendency to pick up injuries, it might be better for the London-based outfit to look the other way. While there are no doubting Bale’s skills, his fitness will definitely prove to be an issue for Chelsea, meaning he won’t be able to fill Hazard’s void as effortlessly, since the Belgian is known to be quite fit and reliable.

Also, Hazard has spent quite a lot of time with Chelsea and there is no reason for him to be unhappy at the club. He is a fan favourite and is one of the best attackers in the Premier League as well.

So even though Chelsea could receive a player like Bale along with a ton of money, it might be best for the club to keep Hazard at all costs. They let Nemanja Matic leave and paid quite a hefty price for the same and with pressure mounting on the club to do better next season, they cannot afford to let a vital attacker like Hazard leave Stamford Bridge.
