Who is Liverpool target Moanes Dabour? A good fit for Klopp’s side?

According to a report in Daily Express, Liverpool transfer target Moanes Dabour is keen to make a move to Anfield and is waiting for the call from the Premier League leaders. The 26-year-old, who is also wanted by Fulham, recently announced that he will leave his current club Red Bull Salzburg this month.

The Israeli striker had been watched by the Liverpool scouts this season, with Jurgen Klopp looking for reinforcements in the attack.

As per the report, Salzburg sporting director Christoph Freund does not want the player to leave but he also stated that nothing can be excluded in football. Hence, it won’t be a surprise if Dabour is in the Premier League either this month or in the summer.

All that being said, we need to know about the player and the qualities he possesses. Hence, here is a scout report:

Scout report – Moanes Dabour

Age – 26

Position – Centre forward

Current Club – Red Bull Salzburg

Born in Nazareth, Israel, Moanes Dabour started his youth career at Maccabi Nazareth in 2003 and stayed there for seven years.

He made five senior appearances for them before moving to Maccabi Tel Aviv and staying there for three years. The striker made 88 appearances for the club, scoring 24 goals and impressing everyone around in the country.

In February 2014, the 26-year-old moved to the Swiss league, plying his trade with Grasshopper Club Zurich. He made 89 appearances there and scored 47 goals, at a better rate than what he did at Tel Aviv. During his time in Switzerland, the player was called up to make his international debut against Honduras in a 4-2 win.

Following all these accomplishments, an upgraded move was on the cards, and the player got it when Red Bull Salzburg came calling. During the 2016-17 and 2017-18 season, Dabour scored 35 goals in 77 appearances for the Austrian side.

This season, he has taken his game to another level. So far, he has scored 20 goals in 30 appearances in all competitions, playing as a lead striker in the team. The Israeli possesses some good pace to make runs in behind and also has the dribbling skills to go past defenders in tight areas.

He has the height (181cm) to automatically become a genuine threat from set-pieces or crosses. The finishing part has improved season after season, which just shows that the more he plays, the better he gets in front of the goal.
