Everything You Need To Know About The 20-year-old Mousa Dembele replacement On Tottenham’s Radar – Amadou Diawara

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in a sensational summer swoop for Napoli starlet Amadou Diawara after the youngster’s impressive displays in the Serie A this season. The 20-year-old is understood to be a priority target for Spurs since Mauricio Pochettino is quite keen on boosting his midfield power in the summer. In fact, the North London side have even sent out scouts to monitor his progress and the reports are believed to be positive.

Pochettino is known to be one of the best in developing and nurturing young talent and there is no reason why he cannot do the same with Diawara. But how good is the player? Let’s take a closer look at his profile.

History

Born in 1997 in Conakry, Guinea, Diawara embarked on his football career by playing as a youth star for Syli Authentic and then FC Sequence. During his time with Sequence, Diawara was discovered by San Marino scouts and the player eventually joined the club in 2014. He was an instant hit for the club and worked well to ensure he progressed through the ranks quite quickly. However, his effortless style attracted attention from Bologna and they signed him in 2015.

He started playing for the first-team but Napoli decided to make a move for him the following year and Diawara got to where he is at present. In fact, he scored his first senior goal for the club, against Manchester City in a Champions League encounter last October.

Playing Style

Despite being so young, Diawara is quite accomplished at guarding the defence to perfection. A defensive midfielder by trade, the 20-year-old can tackle, intercept and block like nobody’s business and can be a dangerous player to go up against.

Adept at dictating the proceedings in the middle of the park, Diawara’s positional awareness is quite strong as well and he is strong at winning the ball back from even the toughest of opponents. In addition to that, the player can also provide adequate support to the attack, which makes him a well-rounded team player on the field.

Diawara’s Future

Although he made quite an impressive start in the Serie A, Diawara has found himself on the sidelines for quite some time now. Hence, Napoli are likely to allow him to leave in the summer, thus opening up a window of opportunity for Tottenham. Given his playing style and skills, he could go on to become the ideal long-term replacement for Mousa Dembele and can stand to develop better under Pochettino’s watchful eyes.
