Jon Flanagan recently signed a new 3-year contract with the club. The Englishman was a key figure in Liverpool’s 2013-14 title challenge under Brendan Rodgers, but a knee injury sidelined him for 20 months and he made his first appearance since coming out of the injury almost after 2 years. He slowly recovered to full fitness and Jurgen Klopp was impressed with him. As a result, Flanagan was offered a new 3-year contract and the player readily signed it. Now that Jurgen Klopp is making changes to the squad, the future of many players is uncertain. One of them is Jon Flanagan. But whether he will make it to the first team regularly or not is still an uncertainty.

He has become a regular in Liverpool’s playing eleven and will surely retain his place in the team next season.

Jon Flanagan has always shown determination while playing in Liverpool colours and is always ready to help the team during attacks and defence as well. He is a full back and plays in the right flank, but now, Liverpool have Nathaniel Clyne as their first choice right back and he has showed his class last season and has earned Jurgen Klopp’s trust. Next season, Clyne will obviously be Liverpool’s first choice right back and that’s why, Flanagan will be a second choice right back and might not get proper game time.

Next season, Liverpool do not have European football, which means the changes in the playing eleven will be very less. Liverpool will have only the Premier League and domestic cups to focus on and it is obvious that Clyne will be the first choice right back for most of the the Premier League matches. Considering the talent that Flanagan possesses, Klopp will surely give him his chances in the domestic cups. Flanagan will not make many League appearances next season unless Clyne suffers any injury. Liverpool need to make a change at the left back position and Klopp might just experiment playing Flanagan on the left, although it depends on how Moreno improves during the pre-season. Flanagan has a bright future and under a manager like Klopp, he can flourish.
