Liverpool’s dream run ended in a heartbreak last season as they suffered an unfortunate 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League final.
Since then, Jurgen Klopp has identified and purchased key transfer targets to strengthen the squad. Fabinho’s early arrival indicated their ruthless approach in the summer market. Although a deal for French sensation Nabil Fekir collapsed despite advanced talks, the buzz of the ongoing World Cup in Russia has clearly not stopped him from signing new players.
Recently, Liverpool wrapped up a deal for highly-rated 17-year-old centre-forward Bobby Duncan and have also acquired midfield prodigy Isaac Christie-Davies, following a successful trial at the club’s Kirkby Academy back in March.
The 20-year-old flourished through Chelsea‘s youth ranks, having joined them at the age of 11 from Brighton & Hove Albion. However, upon failure to agree to a new contract at Stamford Bridge, Christie-Davies will now ply his trade at Liverpool.
The youngster has chosen to follow the footsteps of Rhian Brewster and Dominic Solanke, who also joined the Reds from Chelsea. In fact, both of them are making significant strides in Merseyside and are capable of grabbing a crucial first-team role in the near future.
Christie-Davies, the little-known signing from Chelsea, won consecutive FA Youth Cups in the 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons. He also picked up the UEFA Youth League title in 2016.
The midfielder is set to join Liverpool’s U23 side for the time being. However, there is little hope for Christie-Davies to clock senior minutes since Klopp currently has a plethora of central midfield options at his disposal.
Nevertheless, Christie-Davies will be a key figure for the reserves. And Klopp is well-known for backing young stars, having trained them alongside the seniors week in and week out since taking charge of Liverpool.

That said, it must be noted that the gaffer is preparing for a fierce title battle next season. To do so, he must sign proven quality players that are capable of making an impact from the bench as well. Christie-Davies, therefore, has little chance to fulfil his first-team dreams immediately.
But if he manages to successfully pull the strings for the reserves, he could earn the charismatic German’s attention.
