Why Kevin De Bruyne Could Be The Man For Manchester City Next Season

Manchester City are one of the many clubs in the Premier League that are trying hard to improve their squad for the next season. Pep Guardiola has managed to make a couple of stellar signings for the club already but there are a few players already in the squad that Pep needs them to be at their best next season. One such player who Manchester City need at the top his game is Belgian playmaker Kevin de Bruyne.

The former Chelsea star was brought into the club by Manuel Pellegrini from Wolfsburg in 2015 and has since established a place in the starting lineup as one of the most important players in the attack. He did not take too long to impress the new manager at the club and is now expected to help Manchester City, leading from the front.

With more than 60 league appearances to his name, De Bruyne has gained some valuable experience at the highest level. He scored 7 goals and 22 assists in 49 games across all competitions for Guardiola’s side and was used in a number of positions in the squad.

He played regularly as a part of the midfield three in the absence of Ilkay Gundogan and has also sparkled in a winger’s role when asked to fill in there. But he is at his best, playing as a number 10 just behind the striker and this is what might make him all the more important next season.

The former Barcelona manager decided to spend on Bernardo Silva to add to his attack and this will mean that Gabriel Jesus and Bernardo Silva will play on either wing in the attack. David Silva is expected to play a deeper role alongside De Bruyne, with a top class CDM shielding the backline and adding some balance.

In this role, De Bruyne is expected to run most of the games in front of the opposition backline and will have the onus of creating chances in the final third. He has already settled in well, playing with Spanish star David Silva, and will know what is required of him and what he needs to do for the club.

At 26, he is also entering the peak of his career as a footballer and with Pep Guardiola having some huge plans for next season, De Bruyne could turn into the most important player for City in the next season. Surely, he will have to be at his best, for Manchester City to target the title.
