Valverde To Make 1 Big Change – Strongest 4-4-2 Barcelona Lineup To Face Levante

Predicted Barcelona Line-up To Face Levante In La Liga

Barcelona will welcome Levante to Camp Nou on Sunday, looking to maintain their winning momentum after picking up a much-needed 3 points against Real Madrid in their previous game. The Catalan giants are yet to lose a game in the Spanish league this season and will be looking to continue that streak against 16th-placed Levante. Considering the way Barcelona have dominated almost every other team they played against so far, Ernesto Valverde will hope they pull off a similar display this weekend as well.

Team News

As per early team news, Valverde does not have any fresh concerns but Ousame Dembele is still sidelined despite being expected to return last week. The player has been training though and he could be eyeing a January return. Meanwhile, Samuel Umtiti and Paco Alcacer continue to be out along with Gerard Deulofeu.

Possible Barcelona XI

Manager: Ernesto Valverde

Formation: 4-4-2

Marc-Andre Ter Stegen (GK)

Ter Stegen has been a strong presence in the goal for Barcelona and he should start once again.

Nelson Semedo (RB)

Semedo should start at right-back. Although Sergi Roberto started in this position in the El Clasico, he was later moved to the midfield and Semedo proved to be quite reliable at right-back, making it likely for him to start against Levante.

Thomas Vermaelen (CB)

Umtiti’s injury provided him with an opportunity to take up his role and he has done so to great effect so far. Particularly strong at set pieces, Vermaelen can defend quite well and Valverde should hand him a starting role once more.

Gerard Pique

Gerard Pique (CB)

A lot of responsibility fell on Pique to solidify the defence in Umtiti’s absence and the player has done well by establishing a strong partnership with Vermaelen.

Jordi Alba (LB)

Alba has had a great couple of matches and was particularly impressive against Real Madrid. His speed and defensive prowess will be important for Barcelona once more against Levante.

Andres Iniesta (LM)

He continues to be an experienced yet proficient figure on the field. His vision and creativity are unparalleled.

Sergi Roberto (CM)

Considering how the player kept excelling and impressed greatly after Valverde deployed him in an advanced role against Real Madrid, the manager could hand him a start in the midfield against Levante.

Sergio Busquets (CM)

Busquets was in spectacular form against Real Madrid and managed to do quite well despite making a shaky start. He could take up his usual role in the middle to partner Roberto.

Lionel Messi

Paulinho (RM)

Paulinho has been quite a revelation in the last couple of games for Barcelona and he could be back to showcase his skills against Levante as well.

Luis Suarez (ST)

Suarez started the season on a dismal note but he has been getting back to form and was quite effective against Los Blancos. Should start up front.

Lionel Messi (CF)

Messi never ceases to amaze and he continues to lead the Barcelona attack with the same skills and talent that he is famous for. A crucial figure for the Catalans and he is sure to start against Levante.
