United Draw Against Valerenga IF

Share

The pre season has been a disappointment for United in terms of goals scored. United have struggled to find the net again, this time with a full strength squad, to end the match 0-0 against Norway’s Valerenga football club.

United had Wayne Rooney, Nani,  Nemanja Vidic , Ashley Young, Danny Welbeck all returning from Euro 2012 and also had youngster Michael Keane at left back in the squad sheet for the match. Keane went on to impress for United and will be someone to look seriously into for the future at United defence.

The match also showed why Van Persie would be a great addition for United as the team lacked the killer touch in front of goal. Also the defence of the hosts stood strong to deny United of finding the net. United dominated the match but if only had a goal gone in for the Red Devils the score line would have been totally different.

Kagawa who came on in the second half impressed again and seems to be getting better with each match. Nani and Valencia were impressive all night with a composed performance from the other midfielders also. Lingard, Powell and Anderson all came on in the second half and helped in creating chances with their impressive passing play.

Vidic sure looked in great shape and seems to be ready for the battle ahead this season. Rooney and Chicharito need to get their act right in time for the new season as both did not play up to their standards tonight.

Overall it was a impressive performance by United but the goal scoring slump must be a worry for Sir Alex who might feel the need for Van Persie and Lucas Moura grow with such performances from the United forward line.
