Two Players Who Could Follow Mahrez To Liverpool

Another chart breaking transfer took place when Barcelona finally managed to land Brazilian Phillipe Coutinho from Liverpool. The think tank at Camp Nou had been trying to buy the little magician since the summer transfer window.

Having generated a lot of revenue including the £142m from the Coutinho transfer fee, Liverpool need to think wisely and improve their squad depth and quality, something that they would be well aware of. Many critics argue that this transfer will do good to the Reds as they might be able to fill their defensive voids along with signing a couple of talented forwards.

One player almost certain to shift to Merseyside is Riyad Mahrez. The crafty right winger won the PFA player of the year award in Leicester City’s title-winning season and is more than capable of playing for a big team at the age of 26. The Algerian can work his way past the best of defences, produce moments of magic by cutting inside and create the best of goals.

Apart from the talented Mahrez, let’s have a look at two other players who could join Liverpool this month.

Thomas Lemar

He could be one of the most legitimate reinvestments for Klopp as Liverpool have got the cash in their bag now. Whispers have turned into talking with respect to the AS Monaco star’s future at the club. He was under Arsenal’s eyes for a long, long time and almost landed at the Emirates too, on the deadline day of the summer transfer window, for £90m.

But clearly, Liverpool are ahead in the race to sign the forward. The plus point for them is that the French side almost let him leave for Arsenal only because of the huge amount of cash thrown at them, which clearly means that they could be tempted again.

Lemar is mainly known for his versatility and his ability to play on either wing, in a No. 10 role and also as a false-9 if required. Another massive attribute of his game is the attacking position he covers, much like Mohamed Salah, who barely looks marked, bursting into life when on the ball.

The 22-year-old’s maturity is way beyond his years, as he injects pace, high-quality vision and the ability to pick a defence-splitting pass from deeper positions. He is surely one of the best players they could sign in order to ease the loss of Phillipe Coutinho.

Naby Keita

He is another player whose transfer news is trending and spreading, thick and fast. The Reds could bring the RB Leipzig midfielder to the club in January, although he is actually supposed to join the Merseyside club in July. This is in the process simply because they need someone to pick up the ball in the middle, feed the wider players and add more creativity – a real aspect of Coutinho’s game. A deal is on the cards as Liverpool’s financial status is on a high, which means persuading the new big boys of Germany is not as difficult as it looks.

Keita is a creative midfielder and is still 4-5 years away from his peak, which is a fabulous sign for Liverpool, as they can work well with the midfielder and extract the best out of him. He can dictate the play, is quick without the ball and soaks up all the pressure in big games, an instinct this PL side needs.
