Two ins and one out – Three transfers that could boost Ipswich Town

With the new Championship season not too far, most clubs are working towards strengthening their squads in the ongoing summer transfer window. However, Ipswich Town have an interesting season ahead since they will not be managed by Mick McCarthy for the first time in 7 years.

McCarthy had agreed to leave at the end of the season, however, he walked out early after reacting poorly to the fans’ judgements of his substitutions following a game against Barnsley.

Paul Hurst has now been appointed as their manager but working within Ipswich’s strict transfer budget restrictions will be quite a challenge. Nevertheless, it seems like exciting times are ahead for the club. With that in mind, here are 3 transfers they must complete this summer.

Ins

Kane Vincent-Young

Vincent-Young is a 22-year-old left-back who currently plays for Colchester. He is a promising prospect, and available for only a small compensation sum as he will be out of contract this summer.

Hence, Hurst must sign him as cover for the full-backs in the current Ipswich squad. Blessed with an abundance of talent and loads of potential, the player will cost next to nothing.

Adam Armstrong

Given their meagre budget, Ipswich may have to turn to the loan market. To that end, a move for young Newcastle striker Adam Armstrong seems like a tantalizing prospect. He scored 9 goals on loan at Blackburn Rovers in League One last season. To develop further, the player must look for greater opportunities and moving to Ipswich could be a great move for him.

Adam Armstrong

Armstrong’s presence would offer a different dimension for Ipswich. After all, the club will need goals next season and the young striker is hungry for them.

Outs

Martyn Waghorn

This would be an absolute disaster for Ipswich but there are reports suggesting he could be on his way to Middlesbrough this summer. Waghorn had an excellent season last time out, grabbing 16 goals and 11 assists. However, since Ipswich are strapped for cash, they might find it hard to resist if they receive a significant bid. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see how this develops.
