Two Attackers Who Could Be A Massive Upgrade To Derby County’s Starting XI Including This Burnley Attacker

Two Attackers Who Would Massively Improve Derby County

Another season of disappointment has gone by with Derby County again failing to gain a promotion place. Gary Rowett gets a full pre-season and a full transfer window to mould his own side though and a lot will be expected of the Rams next season.

They seem to have some enviable defenders on their books. However, an overreliance on Tom Ince for goals from out wide was a major letdown. Matej Vydra and Ikechi Anya did not produce the goods and in terms of a no.9, Darren Bent’s 10 goals and David Nugent’s 6 simply won’t do.

Who could Derby add to their attacking line to bring it up to standard? Here we look at two major options:

George Boyd

The left-footed Scottish winger is comfortable on the right side of the attack and in this sense would be a like-for-like replacement for Tom Ince.

Boyd provided 2 goals and an assist for Burnley last term but in the Championship, his output would be much higher, meaning that he could fill the void left by Ince quite well, while also not being responsible for the reinvestment of the cash, which could go on other signings.

Boyd has a very good Championship and Premier League pedigree and, while arguably not being a ‘marquee signing’, would give Derby the sort of impetus they need.
