Transfer Roundup – Arsenal Close In On Southampton Full Back, Chelsea Set To Unleash £150 Million Attacking Force, Manchester United Trying To Steal Arsenal Target

Weekend Transfer Roundup:

Arsenal in for a fullback ?

Arsenal are reportedly looking for a full back in the market as a possible replacement for out of favour Brazilian full back Andre Santos is planning to move from Emirates with Galatasaray showing interest in him. The Daily Echo says the Gunners have been monitoring Southampton’s Luke Shaw for a while now following his impressive performances in the Barclays Premier League.

Though Chelsea are also keeping tabs on Shaw, Southampton have a policy on not handing out lucrative contracts to players under the age of 18 which could pave the way for suitors to launch bids. Moreover, the Saints haven’t discussed a new contract even though Shaw is currently contracted until 2015.

£150 Million Attacking Force from the Blues:

With one the best midfield players across the Barclays Premier League, Chelsea does not have the attacking option as one would expect. With the dismal run from Torres continuing and the inevitable departure of Daniel Sturridge, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is poised to take out his cheque book to go an a spending spree. According to tomorrows Express Chelsea will recall £18million Lukaku, sign Falcao for £50million and partner them with Torres (£50m). He also is planning to sign Shaktar attacking midfielder Willian for around £30millon.

It would be a massive investment and statement of intent as Chelsea look to catch up with Man Utd and Man City who are currently comfortably ahead. On Saturday 22, Lukaku scored a goal which sent West Brom above his parent club Chelsea, and after a successful spell, Benitez has asked for him to be re-called.

Manchester United Trying To Steal Arsenal Target:

Wilfried Zaha to Arsenal talks has been going around for sometime now and though the player has been tight lipped about the situation, Crystal Palace are willing to sell him if Arsenal come in with a right amount of money. However, today the Mirror Football suggests that Manchester United could be in for a late battle with Arsenal for the winger. After missing out on Alex Oxalade Chamberlian to Arsenal, Sir Alex Ferguson is poised to sign the latest prodigy from the Crystal Palace youth academy. This will leave Zaha with the pick of the two clubs. Sir Alex Ferguson is a massive fan of the 20-year-old and is ready to gazump any offer Arsenal make to try to bring him to the Emirates Stadium.

However Crystal Palace are desperate to keep the England international as they eye promotion back to the Premier League and therefore will do everything they can to make sure he stays until the summer at least. At Arsenal, Wenger is keen to keep contract rebel Theo Walcott but a possible long-term replacement could be Ivory Coast-born Zaha who has been so impressive for the Eagles in the last few seasons.
