Barcelona coach Tito Vilanova has been discharged from Vall d`Hebron hospital in Barcelona after undergoing an operation on his parotid gland.
The 44-year-old now faces six weeks of chemotherapy after he suffered a relapse of the tumor in his mouth which he suffered for a large part of the 2011-12 campaign.
Tito Vilanova discharged from hospitalA Barcelona statement read,
“The Barca coach has left hospital this Saturday after Thursday’s operation.
“Given the post-surgery progress, Tito Vilanova has been discharged from hospital on Saturday afternoon. The Barca coach’s operation on Thursday went as planned.”
Jordi Roura will take Vilanova`s place as Barcelona’s coach and will remain in charge until the boss has recovered fully.
Vilanova took over from Pep Guardiola ahead of the 2012-13 season and guided them to their best ever start in La Liga, dropping only two points from their opening 16 games.
