Transfer Latest: Arsenal Set To Lose Their Brazilian Target, Real Madrid Step Up Bale Pursuit

Share

Arsenal it seems are back to their usual ways in the transfer market as they are supposedly set to lose out on signing Julio Cesar to Italian outfit Napoli. The Gunners were tipped to land the Brazil No.1 in the coming weeks, but now it appears that the Naples club have stolen a march over the North London outfit as they are reported to sign the shot-stopper on a season long loan deal.

The Gunners are left licking their wounds after Real Madrid supremo Florentino Perez claimed that the North London club ‘were yet to table an offer’ for his goal-machine Gonzalo Higuain although in certain sections of the English media the move was tipped to be done and dusted.

And now, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport Cesar could be heading back to Italy with Napoli which could mean that despite all the hype and hoopla in the transfer window, Arsene Wenger is yet to prove that he can walk his talk in the transfer market.

Napoli aren’t keen on stumping up Queens Park Rangers’ demands of paying Cesar’s wages in full and the Daily Star reports that the Italian outfit are willing to pay only 75% of his £2.4 million a year wages, which would leave Arsenal with a glimmer of hope to land the classy goalkeeper should they table a bid.

On a completely different note, just when you thought the Bale rumours have faded out, it is now being reported that Real Madrid have saved the no 11 for the Tottenham ace.

Bale was the talk of the town across London and Madrid during the later stages of the previous season as the Welsh man was flying high carrying Tottenham single handedly to finish line before finishing narrowly behind their rivals Arsenal. With almost all directions pointing towards Bale’s exit, Daniel Levy and the Spurs board have so far managed to keep their prized asset in place. However, Spanish sports paper AS insist that Real Madrid are still pursuing the winger and have gone to extend of having a mock ‘Bale 11’ shirt commissioned, using their new strip.

A source close to the Real president Florentino Perez told Starsport: “We will try to sign Bale until the day the summer market closes. He is our top long-term priority.

“If we can sign players like Zidane, Beckham and Ronaldo, we can sign Bale.”
