Tottenham reviving interest in this top-class Serie A ace would put an end to their midfield woes-Agreed?

Tottenham Opinion: Why should Tottenham revive their interest in Marcelo Brozovic?

Tottenham have finally broken their transfer drought with new signings Jack Clarke and Tanguy Ndombele, with the latter one being a promising marquee signing after a long time.

Pochettino must aim to make a statement in the Premier League after enduring a historic run in the Champions League the last term.

Spurs weren’t the best side when compared to their peers in the Premier League, especially when it comes to the midfield. Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama dealt with injuries while Sissoko is on the cusp of entering his 30s, leaving Pochettino deprived of numbers, barring Harry Winks.

That said, it is the right time to make a call on Marcelo Brozovic, who was subject to interest from both north London clubs months before (h/t Calciomercato).

What could Brozovic offer Spurs?

Brozovic has been a staple for Inter Milan since 2015, playing more than 150 games. Notably, he was an unsung hero behind Croatia’s effort to reach the finals in last year’s FIFA World Cup. The ex-Dinamo Zagreb man has earned 47 international caps to date.

The 2017/18 campaign captured his best version, where he racked up 4 goals and 9 assists while operating as one of the double pivots throughout the season.

He was deployed in a similar position last season and yet, the requirements were different as he was instructed to be a holding midfielder, which saw a decline in his goal-scoring ratio.

Regardless, Brozovic is a rather a versatile player, who always tends to give his 100 per cent with his tremendous work rate.

As far as last season’s stats are concerned, Brozovic held a pass success percentage of 90 with an average of 1.6 key passes and 1.7 dribbles per game. Defensively, he averaged 3.2 tackles plus 1.4 interceptions.

The above stats clearly explain his importance to the team and he could be the one to lead the midfield at North London.

Brozovic encompasses great dribbling skills, an eye for a through ball and great passing flair with fine playmaking skills.

Pochettino is a huge admirer of the 4-2-3-1 information and Brozovic would work wonders if teamed up with newbie Ndombele as one of the double pivots.

Final Verdict

The Argentine manager should take a serious look at the current instability in the midfield. Brozovic holds experience at the top level and Spurs would highly benefit from his presence.
