Cameron Carter To Start – Projected Tottenham XI To Face Fulham In The FA Cup

Projected Tottenham XI To Face Fulham

After facing a demoralizing defeat at Anfield, Mauricio Pochettino’s side were put to the sword in Belgium as their Europa League encounter with Gent ended in a 1-0 defeat in the first leg. The Spurs are back in action this weekend as they resume their FA Cup duties with a short trip to Craven Cottage in the 5th round of the competition.

Pochettino’s side just managed to get into the 5th round after a 4-3 victory over Wycombe Wanderers in the previous round and will hope that they can move into the quarterfinals with a decent performance this weekend. Hit by a few injuries, Pochettino will not have the chance to rotate too much and will have to go with a strong lineup.

Tottenham will be keen to bounce back from defeat against Liverpool.

The manager is still without the services of Eric Lamela and Danny Rose both of whom are injured. Star striker Harry Kane picked up a knock in the previous game is a doubt for the tie, while Jan Vertonghen who returned to full training, is expected to be on the bench if he manages to pass the late fitness test that awaits. Harry Kane will undergo a fitness test as well, but chances are less that the star striker’s fitness might be risked.

Expected lineup (4-2-3-1):

Michel Vorm:

An able backup for Hugo Lloris, Vorm has been superb whenever called upon and he should be able to deputise for the Frenchman this weekend.

Kieran Tripper:

Though not at his best recently, Trippier is a decent player and will get his chance to prove himself to the manager in this game.

Cameron Carter-Vickers:

Another youngster who has been impressive recently, Vickers, is one of the most exciting players at the Lane and he should start this game at the heart of the defense for the visitors.

Kevin Wimmer:

With Alderweireld and Dier needing some rest, Wimmer, who was decent in the previous outing, should partner Vickers at the back for the Spurs.

Ben Davies:

With Rose not yet back to full fitness, Davies should keep his place as a left-back for this knockout cup tie.

Harry Winks:

The young midfielder is on the fringes of the first team under Pochettino and he will get a chance to plead his case in this game at the Craven Cottage.

Eric Dier:

The versatile midfielder has been superb as a centre-back in recent games but he should be pushed into the midfield to give the Spurs some balance in the game at the weekend.

Moussa Sissoko:

The summer buy for Tottenham, Sissoko has not been able to impress the manager this season, but should get a chance to start this FA Cup tie.

Georges-Kevin Nkoudou:

Having got a few minutes under his belt at Anfield, Pochettino should hand the newbie a start in his knockout game on Sunday.

Heung-Min Son:

The Korean international has been used extensively by Pochettino. Son has to improve his end product but he will be a danger man for Fulham in this game.

Vincent Janssen:

The Dutchman is yet to sparkle since his move to the England and this game is a good opportunity for him to announce himself at the White Hart Lane.

Here’s how it looks:
