Coming over from the La Liga champions, Atletico Madrid, Diego Costa is the bomb signing for the Blues this summer. Chelsea having matched his buyout clause for £32 million, the Brazilian born player signed on for them for a salary of over £150K a week. With Demba Ba out of the picture, the 25 year old has come through on a deal worth 5 years and can be the piercing forward they need at the moment.
Currently rated as a very fast and on-the-go striker, Costa can tear the opposition to shreds with his tactically brilliant exploitation of the back four. He’s able to spot the gaps within the defense and give timely assists or make a run into the box for the oncoming cross. His work-rate is commendable with each fixture showing how well he can cope to the changing scenarios. His physicality plays a big part as he’s able to run through the middle, shrugging off the closest of defenders to pull up a targeted shot on goal.
With Drogba back on a one year deal and Torres still helpless as ever in his current form, Chelsea fans will all looks towards Diego Costa and his performance this current season running. Considering he’s made a name for himself at such a young age at his former club scoring 45 plus goals in less than a 100 appearances, puts him on a path to career supremacy if he clicks in the Blues jersey.
