Top 5 EPL Strikers Ever

Ever since the advent of the Premier League era, we have seen lucky to witness some of the most breath taking and jaw dropping, gut wrenching goals scored in the highest of Football echelons. What we have seen are unforgettable moments enough to make an Encyclopaedia, players who have been immortalized and most importantly goals, goals and more goals. Thus we here at Soccersouls felt the need to provide our readers a tribute on those strikers who have made watching the beautiful game a comfort and have taken the Premier League to an altogether different level. Today we bring you five of the Best Premier League strikers of all time.

5. Ruud van Nistelrooy

The Dutchman scored an astonishing 95 goals in 150 games which  was exactly one of the reasons why Manchester United dominated the last two decades in English football. Nistelrooy has scored 20 goals/ season four times, a feat which is yet to replicated till now. He is known for his breath taking goal poaching abilities, positioning and finishing skills. Deservingly, he had won the Golden Boot and the PFA Player of the Year in such a short span of time.

4. Robbie Fowler

Termed as ‘GOD’ by the Kop fans, Robbie Fowler is perhaps one of the lethal striker in the history of Liverpool football club. He is fourth all time highest goal scorers in the premier league with 162 goals. Out of those 120 goals were for Liverpool, while other 42 times was scored during his terms at Leeds and Manchester City before he was recalled to Liverpool by then manager Rafael Benitez.

3. Dennis Bergkamp

Perhaps no one in the Premier League era had as much ball control in small spaces like this Dutchman who scored 87 hits at the back of the net in 312 games for the Gunners. An eternal genius, Arsenal will be well off by recalling him back at the Emirates and involve him in some coach role for their academy strikers. The Dutchman won the goal of the season award twice but perhaps as its said, great players aren’t judged by stats. Its the epitome of one such Dennis Bergkamp.

2. Alan Shearer

Isn’t the name enough? For someone like the gracefulness of Alan Shearer, he needs no introduction. Was a proud member of the Newcastle and Blackburn side for whom he scored 260 times, Shearer is number one on our list of the best strikers ever in the Premier League era. He was a classical English forward who holds the ball well, good in air and accurate finishing.

1. Theirry Henry

The Emperor of Arsenal was by surprise a left winger but the number of goals he went on score is an epitome of versatility. He singlehandedly won Arsenal titles and amazed the football fraternity week in week out with his dazzling displays in front of goal. Henry scored 175 times in the Premier League which was a testament of his unique ability to go past defenders at will and score from anywhere in the final third. Thus it’s no surprise Arsene Wenger termed his unique crafting skills as “poetry in motion”.
