Top 4 Contenders For EPL Young Player Of The year Featuring Liverpool Stars

Share

The Barclays Premier League nears its completion in just ten Game weeks. With a lot of drama yet to unfold and jaw dropping, mouthwatering clash still to be played, the last chapter of an entertaining action in years, is yet to be written. There have some immaculate performances all over the 2013-14 campaign, while some players caught the eye and stood out amongst all others. Today we here at Soccersouls present our readers, with a list containing what we think are the top contenders for EPL young player of the year.

1. Raheem Sterling

Raheem Sterling

I have to start the list with this nineteen year old Liverpool winger who has grabbed the attention with his sublime performances over the course of the season. Sterling has been an integral factor making the feared Suarez and Sturridge partnership work with his blistering pace and providing vital support behind the back two. He has chipped in with vityal goals too but the right footed winger’s most dazzling performance came against Arsenal at Anfield where he scored a brace in Liverpool’s 5-1 demolition of Wenger’s men.

2. Luka Shaw

Luke Shaw

Yet another dazzling young talent of the famed Southampton academy, Luke Shaw has been integral for Mauricio Pochettino’s boys who have played out of their skin this campaign. His marauding runs up front combined with the incessant ability to track back and a phenomenal work rate has earned him a national call up from Roy Hodgson. Shaw displays a calm head and maturity beyond his years and should be on England’s flight to Brazil for the showcase World Cup in Samba land. However by the looks of it he might be on his way out from St Mary’s if a big name comes coming in the summer.

3. Ross Barkley

Ross Barkley

Yet another player who should be on England’s 30 man squad for Brazil is Everton’s Ross Barkley. The central midfielder who can play deep, create from there and also invigorate his team’s attacking buildup has been polished very well by new boss Roberto Martinez. The twenty year old has the ability to turn a game on its head and is extremely graceful in possession, Barkley makes our list for the young player of the year award.

4. Jon Flanagan

Displaying immerse maturity beyond his years, Liverpool’s Jon Flanagan makes the list too thanks to his immense work rate and sublime performances playing out of position. Flanagan  has done the job time and again for Brendan Rodgers playing out of position in the left back spot and his brilliant composure on the ball and defensive discipline combined with his barges up front should perhaps rank him beside the winner of the young player of the year.

Honourable Mentions: Nabil Bentaleb and Adnan Janujaz
