Top 2 Players Silva Could Sign In January To Continue Watford’s Impressive Season Featuring Man United Star

Two Players Marco Silva Can Look To Sign In The January Window To Boost Watford

Watford have made a remarkable start to the new season which was further compounded by their recent 3-0 thumping of Newcastle United. The Magpies have also been quite impressive so far and it is a true testament to Marco Silva’s power that his team managed to beat Newcastle in such stellar fashion. More than the players, the manager deserves credit for all of Watford’s successes so far.

No longer are they a team that’s capable of only providing one or two miracle victories. They are a strong force to be reckoned with in the Premier League and are more than capable of nursing greater ambitions. Currently sitting in the 8th spot, Watford have scored 21 points from 14 games. Before the loss against Man Utd last night, they maintained 2 clean sheets in the two games prior to it, winning on a margin of 2 goals or more. There seems to be no stopping them.

However, as days go by, fixtures will get tough and challenges will only intensify. Silva has put together a spectacular team that’s winning matches due to raw passion and skill but how far will that help them in a league so influenced by the power of money?

With the January window coming up, it will be a good chance for Silva to bring in fresh recruits to strengthen the team. They are already quite strong but if they are to go the extra mile, Watford will need reinforcements to provide scope for squad rotation, which will help keep the key players fresh to avoid unforeseen injury troubles. That said, here are two players Silva could consider adding to their squad in January.

Jack Wilshere – Arsenal

Although Wilshere has been a key member of Arsenal’s Europa League squad this term, his future at the Emirates Stadium does not seem too bright. He featured for about 20 minutes in the Gunners’ Premier League clash against Burnley but that is not enough for a player who has World Cup aspirations. It might be too late but moving to Watford can provide him ample game time to improve his trade.

Moreover, playing in a team as dynamic as the Hornets under Silva’s watchful eye could do wonders for the 25-year-old, who was once touted as one of England’s brightest young prospects. Bringing him in will help the manager with squad rotation while also increasing competition in the midfield area.

Luke Shaw – Manchester United

Another player with immense potential but a less-than-bright future at his current club is Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw. His performances for the U23 side have been encouraging but he is failing to break into the first-team as Jose Mourinho seems to prefer Ashley Young, Daley Blind and Matteo Darmian over him. Hence, Shaw could be out of Old Trafford in January, making it an interesting proposition for Silva.

The manager significantly strengthened the right-hand side of his defence over the summer by signing Kiko Femenia but he could boost the back line further by bringing in a talented youngster like Shaw in January.
