Is It The Best For Liverpool To Sell This Star Name And Get A Player Who Can Contribute To The Team?

Another game and another win for Jurgen Klopp, the 2-1 victory over French side Bordeaux was enough to see the Reds into the next round of the Europa League, but it was the news regarding Daniel Sturridge that left everyone fretting about his future at the club.

Sturridge was expected to play a part in the game against Bordeaux after missing out on all footballing action since an injury at the start of October, but the English striker picked up some discomfort in his foot and had to be left out of the squad.

This was the seventh injury that Sturridge had picked up since the start of last season and certainly could be one that keeps him out of the team for a lengthy spell. Sturridge though has been Liverpool’s best striker in recent years purely on goals to games ratio.

With 42 goals in 70 games for the Reds, he has a better record of scoring than Fernando Torres and Luis Suarez, two strikers that have always been regarded as the best. Sturridge’s injury record though is on another level and it could be time for Jurgen Klopp to make a lot of tough decisions.

Bye bye to Danny boy?

Liverpool have a ton of options in attack at the moment, while Roberto Firmino had a great game against Manchester City, he proved that he can play in an advanced role and his link up play with Philippe Coutinho was some of the best attacking football we had seen in quite a while.

Another striker who seems to be doing extremely well is Christian Benteke who scored once again for the Reds as he helped them qualify to the next round of the Europa League. The Belgian might not possess the pace and movement that Sturridge brings to the team, but you can’t argue with his scoring record.

Liverpool also have a couple of young players who could grow into great attackers, Divock Origi isn’t close to the finished article but certainly can get better under Jurgen Klopp while the injured Danny Ings was seemingly getting better under Rodgers before picking up a nasty injury that would keep him out of the team for a bit.

Sturridge’s future at the club doesn’t look that great to be honest, he might be great when he is fit but that doesn’t happen a lot and even when he is fit, he goes injured for a couple of games and then misses a month or two.

Sturridge and Liverpool have to make a tough decision, would anyone want to buy Sturridge? Of course, they would, when he plays he is one of the best strikers in England but the time he spends on the treatment table might be an issue for anyone trying to sign him. Klopp isn’t one who always makes rational decisions but this time it could be the end of the line for Sturridge as a Liverpool player unless he comes back from his latest injury and stays fit till the end of the season.
