Three Transfers That Leicester Are Expected To Complete This Summer

Leicester City managed to survive the scare of relegation from the Premier League, thanks to a brilliant resurgence under caretaker manager Craig Shakespeare. The Foxes finished the season placed 12th in the league standings and may have finished even higher if not for the disappointing results in the last two games against Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth.

While there is no confirmation whether Shakespeare will stay at the helm for the next campaign, it is widely expected that the 53-year old will be given a chance by the board to prove himself next season. With a £120 million windfall headed their way, due to the Premier League prize money and the mega TV rights deal, Leicester are in a position to invest funds in the summer to strengthen their ranks.

Rumours have been flying around linking several Leicester players to an exit while there have been quite a number of names touted to be moving to the King Power Stadium. Ahead of next season, here are three transfer deals that Leicester are expected to complete:

Demarai Gray To Liverpool

The 20-year old has been a subject of heavy transfer speculations having reportedly grown frustrated at the lack of first-team opportunities that have come his way this season with the Foxes.

Gray has made just 14 starts in the 2016/17 campaign across all competitions, despite impressing each time he has been called upon. This has led to the England youth international being disgruntled and is now looking for an exit. His intermittent displays have been enough to catch the eye of Liverpool who are willing to sign him in the summer. It has been reported by the Mirror that the Reds are willing to match the £12million release clause in the winger’s contract and a move seems like a strong probability now.

Ben Gibson From Middlesbrough

Defensive signings will be a must for Leicester considering their ageing centre-half duo of Wes Morgan and Robert Huth. The club seem to have identified Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson as the ideal man to come in during the summer as per reports from Mirror.

The 25-year old was one of the rare bright spots for Boro in a campaign that saw them get relegated back to the EFL Championship. His performances attracted the interest from the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool as well (Daily Star), but the centre-back options at the disposal of the Premier League champions means Gibson might not be a guaranteed starter there. At Leicester though, he would be a constant fixture in the backline, which might tempt him to move to the King Power. He has proven that he has the quality to succeed at this level and will definitely be a good addition if Leicester pull it off.

Bruma From Galatasaray

With Riyad Mahrez’s future at the club in the air, Leicester City will need to strengthen their wide areas in the summer and Portuguese winger Bruma is the man that they have identified to fill in for the Algerian should he leave.

The Galatasaray wide man enjoyed a good season, finishing with 10 goals and 8 assists from 35 games across all competitions. The 22-year old’s agent recently admitted that there was contact from Leicester along with Premier League rivals Southampton (ESPN). With his contract with the Turkish giants set to expire in 12 months from now, there are strong chances that this one will go through.
