After moving into a management role, Keegan went on to work for old team Newcastle United for five years, before moving on to Fulham, England, Manchester City and a second spell with the Toon.
Keegan is one of the best known names in football in the UK, and is available to book through his talent management agency for all sorts of public appearances, speaking engagements and endorsements. Check out three facts you might not know about Kevin Keegan below:
Based on the east coast of Lincolnshire, Scunthorpe United is now a League One team, playing in the third tier of the English football league system. It’s also where Kevin Keegan started his career back in 1966, when it was a fourth division side as an apprentice.
He won the prestigious Ballon d’Or… twice!
Kevin Keegan bagged the Ballon d’Or at the height of his 1970s bubble-perm and short-shorts fame in two consecutive years in the 1970s, 1978 and 1979. It’s the most prestigious award that a European footballer can win, and puts him at the top of his game for two golden years in the 1970s.
In 1979, Keegan also released the single ‘Head Over Heels in Love’, an original composition. The B-side of the single was Move on Down, a rockier track and was co-written by Smokie band member Chris Norman. Although the single peaked at number 10 in the singles chart in Germany when it was released, it only made it to #31 in the UK.
