Three Players Who Could Follow Sven Mislintat Arsenal

Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Borussia Dortmund’s chief scout Sven Mislintat – who is famously known ‘diamond eye’ for his noteworthy signings over the last couple of years. He has truly revamped the Dortmund side while steadily establishing his own credibility as a scout. Credited with bringing in the likes of Ousmane Dembele, Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang and Robert Lewandoski, Mislintat has an eye for pure talent.

It is not just his players that have impressed but also the shrewd business sense of Mislintat. He brought in the likes of Kagawa and Dembele as young starlets and both players proved to be extremely profitable as Manchester United and Barcelona penned deals for them respectively. Hence, considering Arsenal’s situation, Mislintat is the perfect option for a time when Arsene Wenger hangs up his gloves. With that said, let’s take a look at 3 players who could follow Mislintat to join Arsenal.

Raphael Guerreiro

Guerreiro shot to the spotlight after winning the Euro 2016 with Portugal and Mislintat wasted no time in bringing the left-back to Dortmund. He was particularly known for his defensive prowess but the famed scout chose to bring him as part of an attempt to fill Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s void in the midfield in terms of creativity and goals. The player has not looked back since and could look to join Mislintat at Arsenal to provide some much-needed boost to Arsenal’s midfield.

Shinji Kagawa

Kagawa has prior Premier League experience having played with Manchester United and could be interested in moving back. His previous stint at Old Trafford did not end as positively as one might have hoped for and after some uncertainty, he moved back to Dortmund. Now, with Mislintat moving to Arsenal, Kagawa could be tempted to follow the man responsible for his career and the Gunners could most certainly use a player like him considering the uncertainty surrounding Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil’s futures.

Mats Hummels

Hummels is regarded as one of Mislintat’s earliest successes. Hummels failed to find first-team opportunities at Bayern, following which the scout recruited him for Dortmund. Now, he is widely regarded as one of the best centre-backs in modern football. Considering the fact that Wenger likes dabbling with a three-man back line, Hummels could prove to be a viable option. Having a world-class player like him will certainly make a statement of intent while providing much-needed depth for the Gunners as far as the defence is concerned.
