Three Battles That Could Decide The Fate Of Chelsea’s Trip To Manchester City

The Money derby is all set to take place, two clubs bankrolled by some of the richest men in the world are going head to head in a crunch tie this early in the season. Alright, maybe the game is coming too early in the season to have a major say in who wins the Premier League but it certainly could provide momentum to push for a title charge.

The two teams consist of a multitude of stars and with so many great players on display; we look at the three key battles which could decide which way the result swings.

Yaya Toure vs. Nemanja Matic

Two heavyweight midfielders go head-to-head and this is one battle to keep an eye on. Yaya Toure didn’t look his best last season in the shirt of Manchester City but this season he has started like a house on fire. He scored twice, well one goal is still being disputed between him and his teammate David Silva, and he looks set to continue his performance against Chelsea but he will be guarded well by Nemanja Matic who will be looking to break up all the attacks from City’s midfield or at least shackle the Ivorian in the heart of City’s midfield.

David Silva vs. Cesc Fabregas

The two men who are the ticking clocks for their respective teams, David Silva plays in a slightly more attacking role than Fabregas but most of Manchester City’s slick passing moves come with the Spaniard at the heart of them. Cesc Fabregas plays a deeper role for Chelsea but he is often the main person behind those amazing long balls or passes to teammates which gives them the chance to score goals. The player who controls the game or at least creating the most chances for his team could lead them to victory.

Eden Hazard vs. Raheem Sterling

They might not go head-to-head literally but they hold the key for their team’s attack, Sterling might have more eyes on him this time around after his move from Liverpool while Hazard would need to play out of his socks after a disappointing game against Swansea last week. Both players are fast, tricky and have an eye for goal, hopefully they will be able to light up the scoring charts. Hazard though holds the upper hand on the Englishman but this could be the opportunity for Sterling to shine and show how well he has adjusted to life in Manchester.
