Derby County Player Ratings vs West Brom: Here’s how the Rams fared
Derby County produced a majestic display to thump West Brom 4-1 at the Hawthorns in the Championship on Wednesday.
Jack Marriott gave the Rams an early lead when he capitalised on a sloppy Jay Rodriguez back pass before Tom Lawrence arrowed in a shot off the post to double his team’s lead.
Six minutes after the break, Harry Wilson added a third before Scott Malone capped off a brilliant individual display with Derby’s fourth.
Jay Rodriguez scored eight minutes from time, but it was nothing more than a mere consolation for West Brom on a shocking evening at the Hawthorns.
Derby County Player Ratings
Scott Carson – 6/10
Carson made a smart save to deny Jay Rodriguez in the first half. He had no chance to save the goal scored by Rodriguez.
Jayden Bogle – 7/10
Bogle contributed a lot to the attack as he often surged forward with purpose. He was defensively solid as well.
Fikayo Tomori – 7/10
Could he have done better to stop Rodriguez from scoring the consolation goal? Probably yes. Apart from that, Tomori was steady at the back.
Richard Keogh – 6/10
Played a few stray passes as Keogh lacked composure on the ball. He was defensively decent against West Brom’s in-form attackers.
Scott Malone – 8/10
Produced his best performance in a Derby shirt. Malone was lucky to get away with a penalty appeal as he appeared to clip Gayle in the box. Produced a brilliant goal-saving tackle to deny Hal Robson-Kanu and moments later, capped off a fine night with a wonderful goal.
Tom Huddlestone – 8/10
Excellent! Huddlestone bossed the game. He broke up the play and offered a perfect platform for the flair players to take the centre-stage.
Harry Wilson – 8/10
Another trademark long-range goal for Wilson, who continues to impress for the Rams.
Tom Lawrence – 8/10
A fantastic attacking display from the Welshman. He combined very well with his fellow attackers and scored a really good goal, albeit off the post.
Mason Mount – 7/10
Couldn’t influence the game as much as he would have liked to but it was still a positive performance from the young Mount.
Martyn Waghorn – 6/10
Worked extremely hard and caused problems to West Brom’s defence with his movement.
Jack Marriott – 7/10
A proper poacher’s goal from Marriott, who pounced on to quickly score off a sloppy back pass from Rodriguez. Apart from his goal, he led the attack very well.
Substitutes
Mason Bennett – 6/10
Bennett put the ball on Malone’s path for Derby’s fourth on the evening.
