Suarez Vs Sturridge Debate Settled, Forget Arsenal Midfielders, Kagawa And De Gea To Look Out For: Fantasy Premier League – Gameweek 28 Review

Share

The one thing that would be enough to prove how wonderful gameweek 28 proved to be for the Fantasy Premier League managers is the fact that the average score hitting a staggering 56, despite gameweek 28 not having any double gameweeks. The most anticipated match of the week ended in a thriller with Spurs edging past Arsenal 2-1, Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon being on the score sheet.

Liverpool hammered Wigan, scoring four times against them, with Luis Suarez scoring a hat-trick to edge past Van Persie as the leading goal scorer of the League. Manchester United also won convincingly against Norwich with a 4-0 score, Shinji Kagawa proving to be the unlikely hero scoring his first hat-trick in the EPL. Some of the important highlights of gameweek 28 are as follows.

Kagawa, De Gea to look out for:

David De Gea: The Flying Spaniard has been having a much impressive time

Shinji Kagawa has finally arrived and after his match winning performance against Norwich on Saturday, now he is set to get more starts and central role. Till now, he was being denied justice for his potential, with the central role not being provided to him. Rooney and Van Persie made all the partnerships in the central role and Kagawa was not getting his fair share of chances. But if last week’s match is anything to go by, then Kagawa would certainly be in contention for more gametime and central position in the field.

On the other hand, it was a leaky United defence and the rotation policy of Sir Alex Ferguson that prevented us from opting a United goalie. But they seem to have finally sorted out the problems, handing De Gea a place in the first eleven for thirteen consecutive matches and them keeping a cleansheet for four matches back to back. Therefore it would not be a bad thing for Fantasy Premier League managers to start looking at United defence as a potential investment sector.

Oscar a possible threat for Mata:

It is the third consecutive gameweek that Mata has returned blank and if that was not enough, it is rather very hard to take for his Fantasy Premier League owners that it is Oscar who is stealing the show and being the centre stage of the Chelsea attack. All the Chelsea attacks are originating from him and it was his brilliance which set up a goal against West Brom this week to take home three points.

He has somehow sidelined Mata and Hazard and is also being given a regular start in the starting eleven. So it is for managers to decide whether they would continue with Mata or move into greener pastures of Oscar and reap the benefits of being a first mover.

Suarez versus Sturridge debate settled:

It is not only potential that makes a player great, but also the way he is able to cope up with the pressure of performing day in day out. While Daniel Sturridge remains a great potential on the field and when fit would be an able competition for Suarez for the Fantasy Premier League slot, it is Suarez’s work rate and Sturridge’s knack of picking up injuries which practically makes the decision.

Thus, for those Fantasy Premier League managers who picked Sturridge over Suarez to save some extra money, it is high time to go back to the leading scorer in the league at the moment and hope that someday Sturridge can shake off his injuries and again fuel the debate of whom to be given preference.
