Strongest Liverpool XI To Play Against Villarreal: Skrtel To Replace Sakho

Share

Liverpool are on a quest to achieve something big. As they are lagging behind in the premier league table, they are marching on to the semi-finals of the Europa League. We all know that after that 2005 Champions League turn around, Liverpool haven’t won any major trophy and, this year, their new manager has made it possible.

What a dramatic win it was against Dortmund. The players gave everything they had to achieve the glory. April 29, Klopp’s men will be travelling to Spain and will be facing Villarreal at Estadio El Madrigal. Villarreal won’t be an easy side to beat as they advanced into the Semi-Final of the competition by thrashing Sparta Prague by an aggregate score of 6 goals to 3.

Liverpool, in their recent premier league fixture, had a frustrating game as they shared a point with Rafa Benitez’s side at Anfield. Villarreal had the same outcome in La Liga where they had to share a point as well. Both the teams have some great players in the squad who are capable of delivering some magical moments.

Here is the predicted lineup for Liverpool that can face Villarreal in the Semi-Final of the UEFAEuropa League-

Goalkeeper: Simon Mignolet-

After showing some great performances in the competition, he was left red-faced by the Newcastle’s strikers. Mignolet yet again proved why he needs to be replaced as Liverpool’s first choice goalkeeper.

Anyway, even though he had a horror show in his last game, he will retain his position as Liverpool cannot trust Danny Ward in the games like these.

Defence: Clyne; Skrtel; Lovren; Moreno-

Clyne was left out on the bench in the Liverpool’s last game and will be an obvious choice in the right flank for Klopp. This will be a huge debatable position as Sakho is suspended, Skrtel and Toure will be fighting for the place alongside Lovren who is a starter for sure. Klopp might go for Skrtel because he is more reliable than the 35-year-old Ivorian. Toure is poor in his positioning and keeping his marker and that’s why he should be dropped. Moreno is a speedy merchant for the side who provides a different dimension to the team. He is one of the quickest full-backs in the Europe but, he needs to work in his defending.

Midfield: Milner; Lucas; Firmino; Lallana; Coutinho-

Milner is an industrious player and cannot be dropped in the games like these. He has got pace, he has got the stamina and that makes him an undroppable player for Klopp. Lucas, on the other hand, has been a standout performer for the side in the recent weeks and won’t be a shock if Klopp introduced him in the next game. Firmino is not hitting his best form but, he lacks in the aspect of physicality but, he has proved his worth at times to earn a place in the starting XI. Lallana gave his side a comfort in the last game as he fired a curled shot into the back of the net. The Englishman is quick and is a joy to watch. Coutinho is surely a threat for Villarreal with his pace and shooting skills.

Striker: Daniel Sturridge-

With Divock Origi out injured, This Englishman will surely lead the Liverpool’s attack in the next game. He is a lethal finisher who could well punish the opposition’s defence but he sometimes seems to be switched off in the second half occasionally and gives the ball very easily.
