Strongest Liverpool Lineup To Face Carlisle In The Capital One Cup As Firmino Starts

Share

Liverpool missed a chance to get their season back on track after being held to a draw by Norwich City in the Premier League. The Reds had earlier drawn against Bordeaux in the Europa League and after a 3-1 loss to Manchester United, pressure had mounted on Rodgers, who couldn’t get the three points against the newly promoted club.

Liverpool now have a midweek fixture in the League cup against Carlisle and will be hopeful for a better performance of the team. Liverpool have a plethora of options to try out and we predict the starting lineup for the Reds in this cup clash at Anfield.

Adam Bogdan

Simon Mignolet might be Liverpool’s number one but this could be a great chance for the new signing to show off his ability in front of the home crowd.

Joe Gomez

Gomez should make a comeback against Carlisle and play in his preferred position of centre back.

Dejan Lovren

Another player who didn’t start against Norwich, Lovren might be given a chance to show that he isn’t error prone but we highly doubt that.

Dejan Lovren

Emre Can

One of the most versatile players, Can could be played in the game but as a centre back in a three man defence for Liverpool.

Jordan Rossiter

The youngster is making quite a name for himself and could get a start against Carlisle in the centre of midfield.

James Milner

The Liverpool captain in the absence of Henderson should start this game and will be hopeful of a better performance than that against Norwich.

Lucas Leiva

The defensive stalwart should be given a chance to prove his ability and he will look to provide some cover to the Liverpool defence as well.

Adam Lallana

The man who returned from injury, Lallana didn’t hit the best of form last season but will be looking to make amends this season and hopefully star for Liverpool in this tie.

Jordon Ibe

The next Raheem Sterling hasn’t really done much to keep that tag to his name and Ibe would need to have a great game if he wants to regularly feature in the starting XI for the Reds.

Roberto Firmino

The Brazilian hasn’t really shone this season but this tie could be the chance for him to show what he can do if he plays just behind the striker.

Danny Ings

A goal in front of the Kop would have given the English striker the perfect start to his career at Anfield and he should start against League Two opposition.
